The photo at the top of this page dates to 1918. In addition to 90 years worth of fading, the image shows quite a few small tears and wrinkles. Most obviously, though, the photo had been creased down the center and torn in half. The penned numbers correspond to a numbered list of the officers' names, and although I was tempted to remove them, they were retained on practical grounds. The restoration of this photo took hours, although much of the work is not visible at this resolution.

On the other hand, the small photo to the right appears to be in poor shape, but a mere 15 minutes creates a world of difference. The restored photo here has some extra work put into some minor details, but the bulk of the work was done in 15 minutes.
